Manifesto

Une Bête Noire means many things. A few examples are:

- A detestable person,

- A black beast,

- A pet peeve

All of these words and the thoughts provoked by them encompass the brand in both its design ethos and message.

All designs we display have a meaning. We do not release anything without an ulterior moment. We do not believe in cash grabs, rather establishing a consistent and credible voice in the streetwear/high fashion/abstract art culture.

We are a very small team, with 1 person in charge of photography and 1 person leading the creative direction of the brand (with a few creatives in our think tank). We say this to let all other creatives know that though we have very few, we still believe in the power of numbers. If you want to be involved in our creative process, see our contact sheet.

At the end of the day, Une Bête Noire is always going to be left up to interpretation. Is the brand about expressing self hatred and appropriating it? Is it a satirical critique on where fashion is in sphere it lives in social media? Is it everything wrong with the world plastered on a cotton shirt with Speedball? Is it bullsh*t?

You tell me.
